Retinal vein occlusion is a risk factor for patients with high blood pressure, heart conditions, high cholesterol, diabetes, and smokers.
These conditions increase the likelihood of blood clots forming in various body organs, including the retina (الشبكية).
Symptoms of Retinal Vein Occlusion
Symptoms typically involve a sudden decrease in vision in one eye, and patients often report uncontrolled blood pressure.
Occlusion can occur in the main vein or one of its branches, usually accompanied by macular edema (fluid leakage at the center of vision).
Complete venous occlusion can lead to permanent cessation of retinal blood supply due to stagnant circulation and obstructed blood flow from arteries to retinal tissues. This can result in permanent vision loss in a portion of the visual field, depending on the affected vein.
